Loislaw Store FAQ
Loislaw offers the following subscription terms (access periods) for products sold online through the Loislaw Store. All subscriptions, once they are activated (which occurs the first time you log-in or view a document) are for consecutive periods of time (as noted below) and will remain active until they expire, regardless if they are being used or you are logged on to the Loislaw site.

How many products can I purchase at a time?
Currently there is no limit to the number of products you may purchase at one time.
How do I know which of the products available for purchase online are right for me?
If you are looking for access to all federal and state primary law information our Primary Law National product will give you access to all federal primary law databases; as well as all state-specific primary law databases for each of the fifty states and DC. I previously purchased Loislaw’s Primary Research Pass online, but I don’t see that product offered anymore. How can I purchase it again?
The Loislaw Primary Research Pass product is still available although the name has changed. It is now known as our Primary Law National and Bankruptcy product. To purchase this product click here.
How do I pay for my subscription?
Up-front, payment by credit card (or a debit card that has a credit card symbol on it) is required for daily, weekly and single month online subscriptions. Ongoing monthly recurring subscriptions as well as Annual subscriptions may be paid for in full or you may elect to be billed on a monthly basis. We currently accept American Express®, MasterCard® and Visa. If you need assistance with making a purchase online please contact our Customer Service team at: 877-471-5632.
Please note; If you currently have an account with Loislaw, but choose to use our online store to buy an additional subscription, this transaction is completely separate from the current account that you have with us as we can't attach an online purchase to an existing bill/payment arrangement. We do however offer you the ease and convenience of being able to re-use the user name and password associated with your current account when you make an online purchase. This will offer you the ability to access all the products associated with your account when you sign in to the site.
Which products are available for purchase in the online store?
There are two ways to identify products that are available for purchase online:
- Please visit our Loislaw Store for a listing of all available products for sale online
- If you see a pink 'Buy This Selection' button on the bottom of any product page in the "Subscription Options" section of our site, then the product is available for purchase online. To purchase any product that doesn't have this button, please contact our Sales Department at: (877) 471-5632.
Will I receive a receipt with my online purchase?
After completing the online purchase form you will be taken to a purchase confirmation page where you can access your receipt and print it out. You will also receive a receipt via email after your online purchase is completed. A monthly receipt will also be sent via email for any subscriptions that offer recurring monthly billing.
Can I purchase a subscription online that grants access to more than one person at my firm/company?
Currently, only subscriptions for individual users are available for purchase through our online store. If you are interested in having a subscription for more than one user, you can easily purchase this over the phone with our Sales department at (877) 471-5632.
Can I put my subscription on hold for any length of time?
No, we cannot put subscriptions on hold. Once the subscription is activated it runs until it expires, regardless of whether you are logged in to the site or not, or use it at all. You have unlimited usage of the subscription until it expires.
Do I have to pay extra to view cited documents or cases within the document I'm looking at?
No, unlimited viewing of cited documents is included in the price of your subscription. No additional charges will be incurred. In addition; unlimited downloading and printing of documents are also included in your subscription as well.
How will I know when my subscription is activated and when it will expire?
The first time you log-in or view a document on Loislaw, your subscription (and your account) will become activated. At this time an email will be sent to you acknowledging that you have activated your account; and stating what the date and time of expiration is for your subscription.
Can I change the time frame/duration of my subscription once I've purchased it?
No, unfortunately once you pay for a product you cannot alter the time frame that you purchased it for; however you can purchase the same product again (for the same time frame or another time frame), but that second purchase (if it is the same product) will not become active until the first subscription to that product expires.
We do offer an open-ended Monthly subscription which allows you on-going access to the Loislaw product of your choice until you choose to cancel the subscription. For this subscription your credit card is billed monthly to keep your account active.
If I purchased a subscription online to a product that hasn't expired yet, can I purchase another subscription to either the same product or a different one, and reuse my current username and password without disrupting my current subscription?
Yes, you can purchase as many products as you want with the same user name and password while your subscription(s) are active. You may reuse the username and password that you have selected for your initial online purchase as often as you'd like.
Please note when and how any additional subscriptions you purchase will be activated:
- If you purchase a subscription to the same exact product that you currently have an active subscription to, the new product will not become active until the product you're currently using expires. After it has expired, the next time you log-in to Loislaw, the other subscription to this product will be activated for your usage.
- If you purchase a subscription to a different product than what you currently have an active subscription to, the new subscription to this different product will automatically become active the first time you log-in to Loislaw after purchasing it.
If I save my billing information online, will my subscription automatically renew if I try to use it past the expiration date?
Unfortunately, it will not renew automatically. You may reactivate your account by repurchasing the same product or a different product and going through the purchase process (which will be shortened because we have your information on saved.) There is no restriction on how many purchases you may make online and for your convenience you may reuse the same username and password that you selected for your initial online purchase, for any future online purchases.
What is Loislaw's cancellation and refund policy?
Due to their short duration, Daily, Weekly and Single Month subscriptions may not be cancelled and are not eligible for a refund or credit.
Annual subscriptions and Monthly Recurring subscriptions may be cancelled over the phone with a Customer Service Representative by calling 877-471-5632. Recurring subscriptions must be terminated no less than seven days in advance of the customer's next billing date in order to prevent the next month's payment cycle from occurring.
A prorated refund will be issued for Annual subscriptions which are paid for in full. The refund will be for the period of time between the date of cancellation and the expiration date of the Annual subscription.
If I am a current Loislaw subscriber and purchased my subscription over the phone or directly from one of your representatives, can I purchase additional products online through the Loislaw Store using my current username and password?
Yes, you can use your existing username and password to purchase a product online. After making your purchase, you will be prompted to sign in to Loislaw again to activate this new product subscription. You will then have access to the new product you purchased, as well as any other current product/subscription that was previously set up with this same username and password.
Can I pay to view one document, case or a specific piece of information?
Loislaw's subscriptions are not available for single documents or pieces of information. Our subscriptions provide access to specific products (various legal databases and information resources on a state and/or national level). If you only want to view one document or case you will have to purchase a subscription to a complete product in order to access the case/document or the specific piece of information that you're looking for.
Is there a discount available for repeat purchases that I make online?
No. Our daily, weekly and single month subscriptions are designed for occasional usage; however if you frequently conduct research or simply want the convenience of having access to legal research information whenever you may need it, you may benefit from the purchase of a Monthly Recurring or an Annual subscription, which can be made online through the Loislaw Store. Annual subscriptions may also be purchased over the phone with our Sales Department at (877) 471-5632.
Do you offer training or research assistance?

Do I have to be a lawyer or legal practitioner to subscribe to Loislaw?
No, anyone can purchase a subscription to Loislaw; however our product has been created to address the research needs of legal professionals.
